German Translation

Postby orginalerUser » Sat Mar 06, 2010 2:32 pm

I downloaded the langsdk and iDeaS 1.0.3.4 beta for win and began to translate the langsdk and the readme into German.
It's unfinished and sometimes not the best (e.g. for some technical things I had no idea how to translate and sometimes its word-by-word (e.g. in readme: "please do not send any questions on how to use or play games." -> "bitte sende keine Fragen wie man ein Spiel benutzt oder spielt."). Another problem was my lack of programming skills (I have never made any .DLL or the source for it).

Some details:
- dllmain.cpp is unchanged
- lang_eng.mdsp renamed to lang_ger.mdsp and changed lang_eng always to lang_ger (maybe it had to be unchanged or lang_deu would be better?)
- in the Makefile i continued to change lang_eng into lang_ger
- then there was res.sc. One programming problem for me was this Versioninfo-thing (at the end of res.sc, maybe also see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx) as i never did something like that before but it said it had to be changed to your/my language. Problems with translating: 1. english words used in german language (everybody says cheat(s) and not "Schwindel" or "Mogel"), 2. with some technical things
- readme.txt renamed to liesmich.txt (readme_de or readme_ger would maybe also fine) so everybody sees without looking into it which is german and which is englisch (and if you keeped the name readme.exe maybe some guys would overrite one so this was prevented) and 3. somewhere in between 1 and 2 'cause of special German symbols (ä,ö,ü, ß) (in programs used in windows cmd i had problems with them and always replaces them (ae, oe, ue, ss) but here i used them (didn't thought about it and then hoped that it works here). Maybe there should be 2 German translations 1 with and one without them. Don't know. But it's no problem replacing these special symbols by normal ones),

Maybe it's of use for someone who's better than me: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nzimvjydmii/lang_ger.rar

Ok thanks, about the last part of res.rc,

Code: Select all
VS_VERSION_INFO VERSIONINFO
   FILEVERSION        1,0,3,3
   PRODUCTVERSION     1,0,3,3
   FILEFLAGSMASK      0x3fL
   FILEFLAGS          0x0L
   FILEOS             0x4L
   FILETYPE           0x1L
   FILESUBTYPE        0x0L
   BEGIN
       BLOCK "StringFileInfo"
       BEGIN
BLOCK "040904e4" //Change it with your language id and charset
           BEGIN
                VALUE "Comments","\0"
               VALUE "CompanyName", "\0"
               VALUE "FileDescription", "\0"
               VALUE "FileVersion", "1.0.3.3\0"
               VALUE "InternalName", "\0"
               VALUE "LegalCopyright", "\0"
               VALUE "OriginalFilename", "\0"
               VALUE "ProductName", "\0"
               VALUE "ProductVersion", "1.0.3.3\0"
           END
       END
       BLOCK "VarFileInfo"
       BEGIN
VALUE "Translation", 0x409, 0x4e4 //Change it with your language id and charset
       END
   END

You must change only the version of emu, if it is different, and you must modify the language id and the charset. If you want you can add a comment, Windows will show it with Right Mouse Button Click.
Anyway, in your res.rc the dialog with id 150 is in English, please translate it. And Ill add in langsdk.zip a Visual Studio Project file and a CodeBlocks Project (You can find it in attachments).
You can open the file lang_eng.msdp with MingwStudio by Parinya or you can use mingw32-make with makefile, but I think it is hard for you.

Actarus wrote:Anyway, in your res.rc the dialog with id 150 is in English, please translate it.

yeah, some parts were still in english (often 'cause many words used in German are the English words (e.g. 1. it's still "Cheats" instead of something like "Schwindel" or 2. "Use Shaders" maybe could be "Verwende/Benutze Schattierer/Shader" (/ means or so word before the / OR the word after it) (dict.leo.org doesn't have a translation just a discussion, de.wikipedia uses "Schatterier" once in the introduction but in the rest it's only Shader or 3. ROM as Read-Only Memory means Nur-Lese-Speicher and then it could (it could, but nobody did or does) be shortend to NLS and so even in German it's always ROM ).

dialog with id 150 is this one, right?
Code: Select all
150 DIALOGEX 0, 0, 214, 185
STYLE DS_CONTROL | DS_CENTER | WS_VISIBLE
CAPTION ""
FONT 8, "Arial"
BEGIN
   CONTROL "Audio Resampling Quality",-1,"Button",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|BS_GROUPBOX,2,1,110,41
   CONTROL "22050 Hz",5000,"Button",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_GROUP|BS_AUTORADIOBUTTON,10,12,66,10
   CONTROL "44100 Hz",5001,"Button",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|BS_AUTORADIOBUTTON,10,24,70,10

   CONTROL "",6000,"Static",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_BORDER|WS_GROUP|SS_CENTER,140,143,36,10
   CONTROL "db",-1,"Static",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_GROUP,180,146,20,10
   CONTROL "",6020,"ComboBox",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_VSCROLL|WS_HSCROLL|WS_TABSTOP|CBS_AUTOHSCROLL|CBS_DROPDOWNLIST,8,56,140,46
   CONTROL "sec.",-1,"Static",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_GROUP,177,108,24,10
   CONTROL "Buffer Length",-1,"Button",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|BS_GROUPBOX,3,96,198,31
   CONTROL "",6002,"Static",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_BORDER|WS_GROUP|SS_CENTER,140,108,36,10
   CONTROL "",6003,"msctls_trackbar32",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE,48,108,90,10
   CONTROL "Buffer",-1,"Static",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_GROUP,10,108,32,10
   CONTROL "Capture",6004,"Button",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_TABSTOP|BS_PUSHLIKE|BS_AUTOCHECKBOX,3,167,48,12
   CONTROL "Wait On Resampling",6006,"Button",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|WS_TABSTOP|BS_AUTOCHECKBOX,9,75,135,9
   CONTROL "",6007,"ToolbarWindow32",WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|0x88C3,222,0,54,12
END

"Channels" would be "Kanäle", "Syncronize" maybe "Synchronisiere" and "Length" "Länge".
"Mono", "Stereo", "22050 Hz" should be the same in German.
About "Buffer" i am not sure if its translated to "Puffer" (even it sounds like "Puff" meaning brothel/whorehouse it could be used) or maybe "Dämpfer", but maybe nowadays the english "Buffer" is used (like they also use "Cheats").
"Volume" could be translated to "Lautstärke" but e.g. i am having a CD Player bought in Germany and it says "Play" (Spielen/Abspielen/Starten), "Volume"(Lautstärke), "Repeat"(Wiederholen) and so on so seems like they are destroing their language/culture (like "Battlestar Galactica" out of 1978 was translated in Germany to "Kampfstern Galactica" but the "Battletsar Galactica" out of 2004-2009 was kept as "Battlestar Galactica") and so "Volume" could be fine, too.
"CONTROL [...] WS_CHILDWINDOW|WS_VISIBLE|BS_GROUPBOX,2,1,110,41" must not be translated (as they are programming things)?
With "Button" i wasn't sure. Could be translated to e.g. "Knopf", but 1. i think that "Button" often is used as "Button" (like with Cheats) or maybe 2. it's some programming think that musn't be changed, too. So i kept is as "Button".

i didn't change it. Maybe for 1.0.3.4 beta it has to be done?

Actarus wrote:and you must modify the language id and the charset.

BLOCK "040904e4" //Change it with your language id and charset
VALUE "Translation", 0x409, 0x4e4 //Change it with your language id and charset
maybe it would be 0x0409: U.S. English -> 0x0407: German & 04E4: Multilingual -> 04B0: Unicode
and then
BLOCK "040704B0" //Ändere es mit deiner Sprach-ID und deinem Schriftsatz
VALUE "Translation", 0x407, 0x4B0 //Ändere es mit deiner Sprach-ID und deinem Schriftsatz

I thought -but don't know- that it had to be Unicode [or ANSI] 'cause of Ä, ä, Ö, ö, Ü, ü, (?) and ß as they aren't part of ASCII.
Or use Ae, ae, Oe, oe, Ue, Ue, (SS) and ss instead of it and then ASCII would be fine to (as it wouldn't be a problem to do this ASCII version out of the Unicode version both could be done). But also don't know if i just can use "ä" or if i have to do it in another way (just know it from cmd-programs that "ä" and so on do not work and will not be shown correctly). But once saw this: "cout <<"Danke f"<<(char (129))<<"rs Spielen!"<<endl;" (C++ code for printing "Thank you for playing" in German) and this "(char (129)) <<" should appear as "ü" or this cout << "Oberfl\x84 \bche" << endl; (should print "Oberfläche" meaning "surface" in english)

And now i think -but don't know again- that strings like "CompanyName" or "InternalName" mustn't be translated/changed?

BLOCK "040904e4"

04e4 (hex value) is the charset or code page here you can find all chars I think it is good.
Anyway all words among quotation marks, after the word VALUE must not be translated they are used from Windows.

For the words Shaders and Cheats, in Italian, are words not translated or they are better in English (for me).

The words like button, edit, (among quotation marks) you must not translate. Here's the list of all words.

Re: German Translation

a change i had to make:
Code: Select all
LANGUAGE LANG_GERMAN, SUBLANG_GERMAN

( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx )

and i change that could be done but doesn't have to be done:
on last line of res.rc there was some space by a tab and so there was this "no newline at end of file" warning. so removed this tab.

then compiling with MinGW (free C++ compiler based on GCC) and using the command "mingw32-make" and then i got my DLL.

Install process:
- download and extract iDeaS
- start iDeaS once and there will be the folder "Language"
- put DLL in there and start iDeaS again
- go to "File" -> "Language" and select the Language you want and restart iDeaS (close and start it again)

And now i got a problem: it didn't worked (Windows 7 message that appears e.g. when using a cmd-program with some while() in it that never finishes). So tried downloading Spanish translation and test that. Installed it. Run iDeaS in Spanish. Then clicking on "Archivo" (Spanish for "File") i got the same error.
Maybe cause i used langsdk with 1.0.3.3 in it and iDeaS 1.0.3.4 beta, so will now use iDeaS 1.0.3.3 (win) and test it again.
If it fails again (both German and Spain (or Chinese)) i will try it on Win XP; if just the German DLL fails it's maybe cause of something stupid in the source (maybe cause of ä and so on), but first try and then look what happens (maybe it will work with 1.0.3.3.). And after testing I will edit my post here or post again.

With 1.0.3.3 it worked.
Here is the DLL (lang_german.dll in a zip (and as it could be bad i just call it "beta" ;)), so unzip and place it in the "Language" folder of your iDeaS 1.0.3.3: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nn2mjligy ... german.zip
And here the source (based of course on the langsdk which can be found here: http://ideasemu.biz/index.php?act=downloads, compile e.g. with MinGW and the command "mingw32-make" and it will appear in the (new) subfolder "Realease" as "lang_ger.dll" with some other files you can ignore): http://www.mediafire.com/file/uizdztrwxj1/langsdk.rar

Thanks of course goes to Actarus and Lino for iDeaS and to Actarus again for helping me.
If some translation is missing or bad and so on, just tell me

well already found some 'bugs', e.g. on "Key Config/Configuration": "Reset" and "Cancel" is shorter than "Zurücksetzen" and "Abbrechen". As Cancel/Abbrechen fits in, Zurücksetzen is too long for beeing shown correctly. Instead of using the verb Abbrechen maybe the noun Abbruch could be used, but for Reset maybe use the english word in the german version too (so it fits; same e.g. with "Use Temporary Files"->"Benutze temporäre Dateien", there maybe "Benutze temp. Dateien" or just "Temporäre Dateien").

Alternative translation that could be used, e.g.:
English - German ('cause this always starts with the same word) - alternative idea
"Start Emulation" - "Emulation starten" - "Starte Emulation"
"Pause Emulation" - "Emulation anhalten" - "Halte Emulation an"
"Stop Emulation" - "Emulation abbrechen" - "Breche Emulation ab"

Missing translations that should be added:
"Options"->"Trigger Henge" - but don't know a good translation for it  (Henge(noun)=Gelenk/Scharnier, (to) henge [down] (verb)=einhängen/[herunterklappen], trigger(noun)=Auslöser/Abzug/Drücker, (to) trigger (verb)=auslösen. I think it's closing the DS and then "Deckel zuklappen" , "DS schließen" or something like that could be fine).
Some things i could not translate: "Language" ("Sprache") under "File"->"Language" (only appears if there is a language-DLL in the Language folder) and the languages you can choose by firmware language selection as well as one "Properties..." in the title (File->Properties...) and some others, cause i didn't saw a string where this was/is in.

One 'mistake' i did: i just tried to translate English->German as it was on learning nearly like a word-by-word translation. Better maybe would be not just translating but more like writing a new interface.
