Ubuntu install help?

Oi oi peoples

So I downloaded the latest Linux release.
I'm pretty new to Ubuntu, and I dunno how I'm supposed to get the emulator to run?

I extracted it of course.
Tried to run the executable, but nothing happened.

Any help will be much appreciated

Since you're using Ubuntu (9.10 or 8.04), I'm guessing it's that segmentation fault which occurs when attempting to start iDeaS... In this case you'll probably have to use GDB to find the origin of that error.

Yeah, I'm running 9.10.

I tried to run it in terminal. I cd'd to the folder, then did a ./ideas command.
It gave me this error -- "Segmentation fault". So Dimitri was right.

I downloaded the latest release of GDB. I haven't got a clue how the app works. I tried messing around with it for a while...
Not really sure where to go from here.

Remove all plugins, check your graphics driver (OpenGL). Im using Ubuntu 9.10 and it works weel.

I have the same problem. I use Ubuntu 10.4 and open drivers.

You are using a beta version of Linux. I think your problems is the graphics driver. Im using a stable version of Ubuntu and the emu works well. Also you are running the emu through another application gdb is it a beta version also?

You're right. Open drivers doesn't support it. But DeSmuME (all version) work.
